Performance evaluation of partially filled high porosity metal foam configurations in a pipe

In this contemporary research, a parametric analysis of partially filled high porosity metallic foams in horizontal conduit is performed to augment heat transfer with reasonable pressure drop. The investigation includes six different models partly aluminium foam by varying internal diameter from the wall side and external core tube. pore density ranges 10 45 PPI their varies 0.90 0.95. Flow dynamics are captured using Darcy Extended Forchheimer model for porous region two-equation turbulence k-ω employed clear fluid. local thermal non-equilibrium assumption incorporated compute transport characteristics. results showed that performance factor performs close expensive copper foam. found be higher 30 amongst PPI’s considered. However, 2.93, 2.22 1.73 30PPI, 20PPI porosities 0.92, 0.90, respectively 1, 2 3 at lower Reynolds number 4500 then it decreases progressively increasing flow rates average temperature, Nusselt Colburn j also evaluated obtain best possible performance.
